Second Marine Corps Marathon Team Sees Success, Growth
In only its second year as an official event, Push America Challenge: Marine Corps Marathon was a huge success, laying a foundation for an annual success for years to come. On October 25, 30 Push America supporters descended on the nation’s capital to run the Marine Corps Marathon and 10k. While the finishing times were scattered across the board, the weekend gave Push America Challenge team members a chance to remember why they were running; both in honor of those who fought to protect this country and for those who may not be able to run.

Change of Scenery for Journey of Hope South Route
For members of the 2010 Journey of Hope South team, the scenery along their trip will be different from previous years. In years past, North and South teams would depart from San Francisco, riding and visiting people with disabilities together through Fallon, Nevada where they separated and continued on their own routes. This year, the South team will travel along the Pacific coast before heading east into Nevada.

Fall Give-A-Push Weekends End on High-Note
What started off as a Pi Kappa Phi chapter’s simple grant request to improve their university’s accessibility, turned into a unique, eventful and memorable Give-A-Push Weekend for 61 men from seven chapters around the country. On October 9-11, Push America facilitated a Give-A-Push Weekend in Hattiesburg, Miss., but this one was different than any other.

Introducing Regional Team Training
In preparation for our 2010 events, Push America is redirecting our pre-trip training to focus more on safety throughout the trip. Historically, we have split our pre-trip training between fundraising and safety while cycling or on the worksite. Most of our face-to-face training prior to orientation has been done at the Pi Kappa Phi’s Mid Year Leadership Conference in the past as well. We wanted you to be aware of these changes, and also have the opportunity to participate and volunteer.

Pi Kappa Phi and Push America Expand into 2010
As Pi Kappa Phi and Push America continue to grow, so does the relationship between the two. Push America, as an organization founded by Pi Kappa Phi, has always relied on members of the fraternity to supply the manpower to fulfill its mission of building leaders of tomorrow by serving people with disabilities today. Pi Kappa Phi has utilized the volunteer opportunities provided by Push America to build well rounded leaders. The relationship has been successful and is always evolving to fit both entities’ needs.
