Push America ePerspective – April, 2010
Push America’s ePerspective is a monthly newsletter sent to the extended family of Push America and past participants with the purpose of providing insight to the events of Push America and possible opportunities for involvement.
April 2010
Welcome to the new-look ePerspective! It’s the busiest time of the year for Push America as Gear Up Florida is right around the corner, with Journey of Hope and Build America following closely behind. Chapters of Pi Kappa Phi around the country are also making their last attempts of the semester to end their yearly Push America fundraising on a high note, one example of which you’ll read about below. Next month, the ePerspective will be replaced by the Push Perspective, which you’ll be receiving via hard copy or e-mail. The Push Perspective will highlight some of the big events of the last semester in addition to some exciting news coming down the pipe.
Marine Corps Marathon Registration
Registration for the 35th annual Marine Corps Marathon is now open as a Push America Challenge event! Follow the link below to learn more about this event and find how you can register!
Armed Forces Wheelchair Basketball
On April 1, the brothers of Theta Eta (American University), in conjunction with the US Paralympic Military Program, hosted the inaugural Armed Forces Wheelchair Basketball Game to benefit Push America and the Wounded Warrior Project.
Push America Adds Corporate Sponsors
Push America is pleased to announce two new Corporate Sponsors for the Journey of Hope and Build America. Case Logic, owned and operated by Thule, the world leader in sports utility transportation, has signed on as a sponsor for two of our summer events. Case Logic has been a past Corporate Sponsor of Push America and it gives us great pleasure to announce them back for 2010!
Pi Alpha’s Individual Push America Challenge
The following was written by Ruben Talavera, a Pi Alpha and long-time Push America supporter. This past March, Ruben participated in the Bataan Death March as a Push America Challenge event. In this journal entry, Ruben recounts his experience participating in the event. Push America thanks Ruben for continuing his commitment to serving people with disabilities! Personal Connection to Push America
The following letter was written by a young woman from Arizona State University in response to the Pi Kappa Phi chapter’s efforts with their annual Bike-a-thon and its surrounding events. The letter brings to light the fact that, in addition to valuable funds raised on behalf of Push America, the friendship, caring and empathy shown can make a world of difference to people with disabilities. Push America is lucky to have supporters illustrating this across the country all year long.
