New Constitution Final Draft
The finalized draft for our new Chapter Constitution is available for review. Many members of the Executive Council and our adviser, Paul Vasconcellos, have reviewed it and have provided useful modifications. In terms of “why is this important” and “what is it,” think of the constitution as the operational guide or instruction manual for running the chapter. Without a good constitution, no one knows how to make the machine function properly and no one knows where the parts fit together. With a good constitution, you know precisely how to fix problems when they arise and where the parts go. It also tells you what the machine’s parts do.
Since the voting ceremony on Sunday, November 29, should not take very long at all, I intend on having a very brief 10-minute presentation of the document. After, we shall hold a ratification vote. If you have any questions or concerns, you must contact me before that meeting so we can prepare a solution or solutions for the chapter to consider. My main goal was to make this document as non-controversial as possible, so I am not anticipating acrimonious debate or long deliberation about its contents. The Constitution is also available for download in PDF format.
